What do you want to check?

Codes are interpreted in your browser. NHTSA requests are sent only when you press their button. Advertising is disabled.

• The request happens only when you press the button and goes directly to the public NHTSA vPIC API. Chapa Lab does not store the VIN.
• General results by year, make and model. They do not prove that one particular vehicle is affected.

• Save all codes and freeze-frame data before clearing memory.

Safe checks

The control module compares signals before and after the catalyst and sees less exhaust cleaning than expected. This code alone does not prove the catalyst must be replaced.

• Check related mixture or misfire codes.
• Inspect for leaks only when the exhaust is cold.
• Compare sensor data before replacing parts.

When to stop

Do not continue if the engine light flashes, the engine shakes heavily or unburned fuel can be smelled.
